My Sister

“My Sister” is a very personal series. I created it to honor the bond I share with my sister. Growing up together, I often took ordinary moments with her for granted. It wasn’t until we started living far away from each other that I realized how much those small moments meant.

These paintings freeze those memories we so frequently overlook. Rendered in black and white, each scene carries a single red object. It represents a quiet symbol of love, memory, and gratitude. Through this series, I wanted to preserve what distance made me cherish: the simple, everyday closeness that shapes who we are.

The series also includes a separate oil painting, “Girl with a Cabbage.” Unlike the other works, it doesn’t capture a moment we shared but a memory from my sister’s own life, one I wasn’t part of. By painting it, I wanted to connect with her world beyond our time together. With those moments and friendships that shaped her while I wasn’t around.
